When the four-seat unibody Thunderbird was launched in February 13, 1958, it was accessible with the “FE” 352 plus a handful of 332cid V8s for export markets. Ford had supposed to make the 350-horsepower “MEL” 430 accessible, however that didn’t occur till 1959.
