To many automotive fans, the late Eighties and early Nineties have been thought-about a “peak era” for Japanese engineering. Models like the Acura NSX, Toyota Supra, Mazda Miata, and Nissan 300ZX have been just a few of the standout autos that have been in style again then – and every of these stay iconic as we speak.

The Pick of the Day is a low-mileage 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 listed on the market on ClassicCars.com by a personal vendor in Eagle, Idaho. (Click the hyperlink to view the itemizing)

Showing simply 54,197 miles on the odometer, this automotive remains to be only a child even at over 30 years outdated. “All-wheel drive, twin turbo, active aero with sport mode suspension,” the itemizing states. “Corners like a dream. Stored in a garage under cover.”

The 3000GT was bought as the Mitsubishi GTO exterior North America and was co-branded as the Dodge Stealth in the United States as half of a collaboration between Chrysler and Mitsubishi. This 2+2 sports activities coupe had sporty character traces together with traditional Nineties design components like pop-up headlights. It was categorised as a grand-tourer and was supplied solely as a liftback initially, though a convertible variant got here down the meeting line 4 years later.

On paper, the 3000GT checked all the containers for fans. It supplied superior options for its time, and the VR-4 mannequin was the cream of the crop with gear together with an electronically-controlled suspension, all-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, energetic aerodynamics, and a limited-slip differential.

Under the hood, the VR-4 acquired a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that was rated at 300 horsepower and 308 lb-ft of torque. Power was transferred to all 4 corners by a five-speed guide transmission, and the vendor states that the timing belt and tires have been changed.

Based on the images in the itemizing, this instance is an exceptionally well-kept sports activities automotive, which says quite a bit since many of these have been pushed arduous in the early days and aren’t round anymore.

To anybody on the market like me who lusted after the 3000GT as a teen and is trying to lastly add one to his or her dream assortment later in life, alternative is knocking.

The vendor is asking $21,500 for this immaculate Monza Red 3000GT.
